The Seemingly Unimportant Things That I Miss
When you lose someone who means the world to you, you don’t only lose their presence, but also the privileges: to gaze into their beautiful eyes, to ask for their point of view, to listen to their thoughts, to argue with them, to apologize, because you value your relationship more than your ego; to make them laugh, to send them how’s-your-day texts, to playfully mess their hair up, to wipe their tears, even to hear them hum that stupid song that’s still stuck in your mind until now; to let them know how grateful and happy you are to have them in your life while putting your arms around them.
If the one you’re thinking of right now is still around, call them, tell them how much they mean to you. Because there will come a day when you will look back and wish you had done more.
